Drupal (pronounced /ˈdɹuːpʰəl/) is a leading open-source, web content management system ("CMS") based on web standards, and provides an extremely flexible modular framework for building Internet portals, corporate web site, e-commerce sites, and more. Drupal is free and written in the programming language PHP, uses the data base MySQL and presents content with the markup standard CSS. Like many modern CMS's, Drupal allows a website's system administrator to create and organize content, customize the presentation, automate administrative tasks, and manage site visitors and contributors. It also is allows programmers to extend its capabilities from content management to enable a wide range of services and transactions.
