Some Personal Thoughts and Trivia

The Artist's Way Every Day - April 9th

If you ask an artist how he got where he is, he will not describe breaking in but instead will talk of a series of luck breaks. "A thousand unseen helping hands," Joseph Campbell calls these breaks. I call them synchronicity. It is my contention that you can count on them. Take a small step in the direction of a dream and watch the synchronous doors flying open. Seeing, after all, is believing. And if you see the results of your experiments, you will not need to believe me. "Leap, and the net will appear."

Great Advantage Of Mathematical Technique

Austrian-born 1974 Noble Economics Prize winner Friedrich Hayek

I regard it in fact as the great advantage of the mathematical technique that it allows us to describe, by means of algebraic equations, the general character of a pattern even where we are ignorant of the numerical values which will determine its particular manifestation.

Austrian economist and philosopher, known for defence of classical liberalism as 1974 Nobel Laureate of Economic Sciences (1899 - 1992)

Thought for Today: Creating a Peaceful Character

Waterfall in Iceland under turbulent skies

To be peaceful you have to see yourself as a peaceful being. It means to think about being peaceful. It means that you have to be able to be able to describe it in words. You must be capable of experiencing the feelings you would have if you reached that peaceful state. Now believe in it. If you feel it, it's real. Simply work on it and keep it uppermost in your mind. Make it yours and it will become your natural behaviour.

The Artist's Way Every Day - December 25th

When artists are working regularly, they are spiritually centered. The act of making art is a spiritual act and our daily exposure to this realm does not have an impact on our personality. It does not matter what language we use to describe it. Art puts us in touch with a power greater than ourselves. This conscious contact brings us a sense of optimism and grace. As we sense that there is a benevolent Something inclined toward helping us and our work, we begin to feel a sense of companionship. Higher forces are at our side. We are not alone.

Action, Stimulus and Response

Brunette Cara Michelle was Playmate of the Month for December 2000

It is impossible to describe any human action if one does not refer to the meaning the actor sees in the stimulus as well as in the end his response is aiming at.

Austrian economist, historian and social philosopher (1881 - 1973)

Love Is A Verb

Image stating Love is a verb

Love — the feeling — is a fruit of love, the verb.

Reactive people make it [love] a feeling. Hollywood has generally scripted us to believe that we are a product of our feelings. But the Hollywood script does not describe the reality. If our feelings control our actions, it is becasue we have abdicated our responsibility and empowered them to do so.

A Deeper Level Of Thinking

Stunning brunette Ashley Ann Vickers in red bikini contemplates at the beach

As we look around us and within us and recognize the problems created as we live and interact within the Personality Ethic, we begin to realize that these are deep, fundamental problems that cannot be solved on the superficial level on which they were created. We need a new level, a deeper level of thinking -- a paradigm based on the principles that accurately describe the territory of effective human being and interacting -- to solve their deep concerns.
