Some Personal Thoughts and Trivia

Situation

Thought for Today: Remain Positive

Train tracks in Alabama stretch west into distance as an orange sun sets for day

If my mind is still enough, I can see the deeper meaning behind each situation. No matter how bad a problem may seem on the surface, if I remain positive eventually I will see how everything has worked out for the best.

Every Adversity Contains A Seed

Blonde actress and model Kristanna Loken poses in a dark blue bikini

All successful people have the uncanny ability to focus on what is possible in a situation, what positive results come from it. No matter how much negative feedback they get from their environment, they think in terms of possibilities. They think that everything happens for a reason, and it serves them. They believe that every adversity contains the seed of an equivalent or greater benefit.

American self-help author and motivational speaker (born 1960)

Acceptance Is Not Submission

Blonde American professional ballroom dancer Julianne Hough

Acceptance is not submission; it is acknowledgment of the facts of a situation. Then deciding what you're going to do about it.

Fell In Love or Did You?

Japanese flower model Yu Hasebe poses in pink and green bikini laying on side

Sometimes when you look back on a situation, you realize it wasn't all you thought it was. A beautiful girl walked into your life. You fell in love. Or did you? Maybe it was only a childish infatuation, or maybe just a brief moment of vanity.

Thought for Today: Choices

Sunset on a clear day above Monument Valley in Utah

Life is all about choices. When you cut away all the junk, every situation is a choice. You choose how you react to situations. You choose how people affect your mood. You choose to be in a good mood or bad mood. The bottom line: It's your choice how you live life.

Only Can Get Public To Act By Manipulating Opinion

Blonde Playboy model Kellie Connolly wearing a light blue sweater

The vested interests — if we explain the situation by their influence — can only get the public to act as they wish by manipulating public opinion, by playing either upon the public's indifference, confusions, prejudices, pugnacities or fears. And the only way in which the power of the interests can be undermined and their maneuvers defeated is by bringing home to the public the danger of its indifference, the absurdity of its prejudices, or the hollowness of its fears; by showing that it is indifferent to danger where real danger exists; frightened by dangers which are nonexistent.

Thought for Today: Enthusiasm Inspires Others

Mountains reflect on still lake near Pirdop, Bulgaria

The one who is constantly full of enthusiasm inspires others. Whenever problems come our way, we tend to feel weighed down by negative thoughts. Heaviness in the mind prevents us from moving forward with enthusiasm and makes it tricky for us to inspire others. Whenever I encounter a difficult situation, I need to make a special effort to remain free and light. The more enthusiastic I am, the more progress I will make. My attitude will inspire others, too.

The Artist's Way Every Day - February 17th

Brunette model Jessica Canizales wears a blue and white bikini

People frequently believe the creative life is grounded in fantasy. The more difficult truth is that creativity is grounded in reality, in the particular, the focused, the well observed or specifically imagined. As we lose our vagueness about our self, our values, our life situation, we become available to the moment. It is there, in the particular, that we contact the creative self. Until we experience the freedome of solitude, we cannot connect authentically. We may be enmeshed, but we are not encountered. Art lies in the moment of the encounter: we met our truth and we meet ourselves; we meet ourselves and we meet our self-expression. We become original because we become something specific: an origin from which work flows.

Thought for Today: Wisdom

The amazing Iguazu Falls in Argentina

The one who is wise is free from careless or negative talk about others. When someone is talking about another person's shortcomings, I need to question why I am listening: is this information of any use to me, or can I do anything about the situation? If not, then I need to remind myself that there is no use in listening to such talk. Instead, I need to make an attempt to look at the positive qualities of the person in question, and think about how I can help everyone focus on these instead.

Thought for Today: Power To Tolerate

The peaks of Grand Teton National Park against a very blue sky and lake

You have the power to tolerate anyone and any situation. But tolerance is not just suffering in silence. It means going beyond any personal discomfort you may feel, and giving a gift to whom ever you would tolerate. Give your time, attention, understanding, compassion, care - all are gifts, which paradoxically, you also receive in the process of giving. And, as you do, you will experience your own self-esteem and inner strength grow. In this way you can turn tolerance into strength.

Thought for Today: Adapting to New Situations

Winter time in Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah

We can only feel comfortable adapting to new situations and different ways of doing things if we are light and easy. We often resist new ideas from others or changing circumstances because we harbour jealousy, mistrust or resentment. Letting go of such negativity, we begin to see with a positive vision and can embrace new scenes in life with a sense of openness and adventure.

Golda Poretsky on Healing and Growth

Brunette model Gaby Espino poses in blue strap top

I’m not saying that you should deny the difficult events of your life. But the fact that you survived is also a wonderful story to tell. And that story, the story of the way you came through a difficult situation, found resources within yourself or outside of yourself, gleaned from that experience what you wanted and what you didn’t want going forward — that is a story that can inspire you and others to heal and grow.

Thought for Today: Quality Change

A boat dock stretches out into Lake Atitlan, Guatemala

Quality Change is the capacity to transform ‘negative’ situations, or circumstances, into something beneficial for one’s self and others. ‘Quality transformers’ are people who can turn walls of resistance into bridges of understanding and keep crossing them, who can change any obstacle into a stepping stone of success and can reverse the niggling, paralysing dragons of doubt into radiant self-confidence, dissolving the thought 'impossible' from the mind.

Thought for Today: All Will Be Well

Amidst the earthquakes of unexpected situations, the hurricanes of unreasonable behaviour, when fortune strikes against me, I will remain unmoved, knowing that finally all will be well.

Higher Power Holds Key To Every Situation

Blonde model Brooklyn Decker poses at shore in a purple pattern bikini

Man is made or unmade by himself. By the right choice he ascends. As a being of power, intelligence, and love, and the lord of his own thoughts, he holds the key to every situation.

Thought for Today: Perceive Positively

Marshall Point Lighthouse at sunset along the Maine coast

True self-awareness, plus the ability to choose our perceptions of life, the universe and everything, is the basis of free will. Every situation and scene in front of us has so many possibilities in terms of how we perceive and interpret. If someone is 10% selfish and 90% generous what should we focus on, what should we perceive first within them? Most of us are now well trained to perceive and focus on the negative, the selfishness in others, and to follow it quickly with accusation and judgement. We forget that what we perceive is what we empower within another and, more importantly what we perceive is what we empower within ourselves in that moment. And what we choose to see is usually what we get. So how important is it that we choose to perceive only the best, the highest, the greatest in another, even if it's only a half a percent? Bosses and parents - take note!! Don't forget - your perception is your reality. Your perception is what you project. And what you project is what comes back!

Thought for Today: Patience

White boat patiently waits at the dock in a colorful harbor

Patience is a reflection of the peaceful mind. My peaceful mind is able to cope with all situations without becoming disturbed and agitated. It calmly accepts the resolution of circumstances and, with this patience acquires the power to deal with all situations.

Thought for Today: Self-Control

Old Mormon Barn peaks through winter mist at Grand Teton National Park

When things go wrong, our first thought is often about controlling the situations or people involved. But since neither the situations or people are in our hands, there is no success guaranteed with this way of thinking, which only increases the negativity. Instead of trying to control something I have no control upon, I need to start with myself. The more I am able to control myself with constant attention, checking and changing, the more I will have everything under control.

Thought for Today: Noticing Goodness

Wild Goose Island in middle of lake in Glacier National Park, Montana

Even if I don't mean to be critical, I often unconsciously home in on others' weaknesses and mistakes, The more I develop the habit of noticing goodness and only holding onto the good in others and situations, the more my own sense of well-being will rise. When I continually think: "He/she is wrong", I create a barrier that prevents me from reaching my own goodness.

Thought for Today: Simplicity

An idyllic day at Capo D'Acqua Lake in Italy

Complications seem to be an inevitable by-product of modern living. Simplicity gives birth to inspirations. Keeping my own mind calm and clear is the easiest method to sort out messy situations. Maintaining a balance of living simply yet comfortably, and only using what I really need of the earth's resources, I will always have abundance in my life.
