Some Personal Thoughts and Trivia

Negativity

Thought for Today: Sow the Seed of Peace

An unusually empty Boston Common on April 19, 2013 after bombings

If we plant a positive, clean seed of thoughts and concentrate on it, we give it energy, like the sun gives to a seed in the earth. And as the seed in the earth awakens, stirs and begins to grow, the thoughts on which we concentrate awaken, stir and begin to grow. So let us sow positive thoughts. Each morning before we begin the journey of the day let us sit still, in silence, and sow the seed of peace. Peace is harmony and balance. Peace is — freedom from the burden of negativity and wastefulness. Let peace find its home within us. Peace is our original strength, our eternal tranquility of being.

Daily Reflection: Love

Love is the greatest force in the universe. It’s a treasure that people would give anything for, yet it costs nothing to give and receive. There is an endless supply, and it can be extended to family, friends and strangers at any moment. It increases positivity and acts like a shield against negativity. It forgives, heals, encourages and inspires.

Give love, receive love and invest in love every day. Because where you invest your love, you invest your life.

Give To Yourself That Which Empowers

Don't let the negativity given to you by the world disempower you. Instead give to yourself that which empowers you.

Thought for Today: Spotting Goodness

Mammoth Hot Springs in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

When I become excessively critical towards others, it means I am going in the wrong direction. We are usually very good at spotting mistakes, but we should develop the quality of also spotting goodness. If I can see what is good in others or in situations and go beyond the curtain of negativity, I feel good about myself. If I constantly think "he is wrong", I instead create a barrier which blocks me from reaching my own goodness. A very ancient law says: "Just as I treat others, I shall be treated by others.

Thought for Today: Adapting to New Situations

Winter time in Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah

We can only feel comfortable adapting to new situations and different ways of doing things if we are light and easy. We often resist new ideas from others or changing circumstances because we harbour jealousy, mistrust or resentment. Letting go of such negativity, we begin to see with a positive vision and can embrace new scenes in life with a sense of openness and adventure.

Thought for Today: Self-Control

When things go wrong, our first thought is often about controlling the situations or people involved. But since neither the situations or people are in our hands, there is no success guaranteed with this way of thinking, which only increases the negativity. Instead of trying to control something I have no control upon, I need to start with myself. The more I am able to control myself with constant attention, checking and changing, the more I will have everything under control.

Negativity Will Take Away Everything Of Value

We must all wage an intense, lifelong battle against the constant downward pull. If we relax, the bugs and weeds of negativity will move into the garden and take away everything of value.

Magnificent Consequences

What you do, matters. The words you speak, the things you feel, the thoughts you hold, and the actions you take all have an influence on the quality of your life.

You cannot escape the consequences of the way you choose to live. So your best strategy is to make those consequences magnificent. Instead of having to pay a price for your actions, you can be reaping the rewards of your actions. The choices you make in each moment are what make the difference. If you carry around negative thoughts and feelings, and then express that negativity in your actions, you make your whole world a darker, more dismal place. Choose instead to adopt a positive perspective, seeing the best in other people and in the situations you encounter, and you’ll be adding new, meaningful value to your world.

In every little moment, the way you choose to be truly matters. Make a little positive difference, again and again, and it all soon adds to a life of real fulfillment and joy. You have a very powerful influence on the world in which you live, and on the life you experience. Live as though everything matters, because it does, and bring your own magnificent consequences to life.

A Positive Force

Blonde TV personality Ashley Russell looks up wearing a bikini

Today, you can be a positive force in a negative world. Today, you have the opportunity to truly make a difference.

When you come across greed, incompetence, disrespect, despair, or injustice, don’t simply get angry or frustrated. Instead, get busy.

Get busy thinking of what specific steps you can take to make it better. Then get busy committing yourself and taking those steps.

You can’t do anything to prevent what has already happened. Yet you can do much, in your own way, to make your corner of the world a more peaceful, loving, creative, intelligent and caring place.

When you’re tempted to curse the negativity that’s all around you, stop and remember that your cursing will do little good. Rather than focusing on what’s wrong, step forward and do something that’s overwhelmingly right.

Improve your corner of the world, and that corner will grow more positively influential. Keep on being a positive force, and little by little, you can create a great and wonderful transformation.
