Song Apologize - Too Late To Make Amends??

Two weeks ago, I composed the post Spirituality and Meditation on Easter Sunday. That post concluded with the thought "I hope that the spirit of love and renewal fill them both [Kyra and Mary] on this day of Jesus' resurrection and pray that they both may soon again be a regular part of my daily life." Unfortunately, what were prayers for positive developments have evolved into more negative events since. What was to be a meeting about Kyra spending time with her father has now been continued at least for another two months. Mary in turn has reiterated her desire for no contact whatsoever as she moves on and finally completes her separation/divorce.

These developments have left me feeling more melancholy and down than I might have expected. With a new acquaintance, I have been talking a lot about relationships, including taking responsibility for one's actions and making amends where needed. He suggested that I listen to the American artist Timbaland song entitled Apologize. The YouTube video above is a picture/movie set to this Apologize sound track. The pictures feature first Catherine Zeta-Jones and then the Olsen twins, Ashley and Mary Olsen. Ironically, the videos of these twin child actresses were also among Kyra's favorites when she was younger.

We Are Response-able

Cover of book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Steven Covey

It is so much easier to blame other people, conditioning, or conditions for our own stagnant situation. But we are responsible — "response-able" — to control our lives and to powerfully influence our circumstances by working on be, on what we are.

Love Is A Verb

Image from file love_is_a_verb.jpg

Love — the feeling — is a fruit of love, the verb.

Reactive people make it [love] a feeling. Hollywood has generally scripted us to believe that we are a product of our feelings. But the Hollywood script does not describe the reality. If our feelings control our actions, it is becasue we have abdicated our responsibility and empowered them to do so.

The more aware we are of our basic paradigms, maps, or assumptions, and the extent to which we have been influenced by our experience, the more we can take responsibility for those paradigms, examine them, test them against reality, listen to others and be open to their perceptions, thereby getting a larger picture and a far more objective view.
